Oracle CX Commerce On-Premise Flash Support Notice

Adobe has announced its plans to End of Life (EOL) its Flash platform at the end of this calendar year, December 31, 2020. Many versions of Oracle CX Commerce On-Premise have leveraged this technology within the business user tools, the ATG Commerce Business Control Center (BCC) and the Endeca Workbench.

Oracle has spent the last several years rewriting the Commerce tools to remove use of Flash, and the current release, version 11.3.2, does not leverage the technology.

Oracle strongly recommends that customers upgrade to the latest release of Oracle CX Commerce On-Premise, v. 11.3.2 in order to eliminate the use of Flash. Older versions of Oracle CX Commerce cannot be patched.

Adobe has recently indicated that in addition to ending support for Flash players at the end of the year, these players will also block any Flash content from running at that time. See: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html

Given the information from Adobe, this strongly reinforces Oracles above guidance to upgrade to the latest version that does not use Flash technology.

Adobe does provide guidance on how to work around the blocking of content for enterprise applications and customers, and what options are available for support. Please see: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/enterprise-end-of-life.html Oracle has not validated the described approaches, and again strongly recommends that any Oracle CX Commerce On-Premise customers that are not upgrading to the 11.3.2 release to take action to upgrade. If the upgrade is not performed, customers should ensure the Adobe provided guidance has been validated and proven to work with each Commerce installation in order to prevent significant limitations using Oracle CX Commerce On-Premise on or after January 1, 2021.
