Why did you choose Oracle Commerce?
We chose Oracle Commerce as our solution for several reasons. One, we liked the convergence of commerce and static content and the investment in aligning the two. Second, we were looking for a single platform to front vitamix.com. We also wanted multisite capability that enabled rapid international expansion. Lastly, Oracle Commerce’s capability was not present in other platform finalists.
What criteria factored into your decision to use?
Several factors led to our decision. We took into account the total cost of ownership, the breadth of capability, solution viability and organizational effect.

About a year. It began in August 2014 and launched in April 2015.
What value has Oracle Commerce provided?
Oracle Commerce brings value to our company through its multisite capability, its framework for extension for Vitamix specific use cases and content, and by allowing us to target our content.
What challenges did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
One of the challenges that we had allowed the business to fester on decisions that affect development. We also failed to realize how critical the ERP integration was to the critical path, and we allowed the business to lean on IT for managing content within the business control center.
Did you use any Oracle Commerce partners? If so, why?
We have partnered with Commerce Architects, Cirrus10, both of which seemed to be the best at this based on our evaluation.
What is the Vitamix success story for Oracle Commerce?
Our biggest success story is taking Vitamix — a fourth-generation, family-owned company — global using Oracle Commerce at OpenWorld 2015.
Do you use the Oracle Commerce Cloud? Why or why not?
That seems like a potential upgrade path. Perhaps it’s less expensive to own and operate Oracle Commerce Cloud as opposed to using an on-premise solution. There are some things that traditionally would require code that can be done without IT involvement that seem interesting, and anything I can do to get out of the business control center will be welcomed by our business units.
Is your Oracle Commerce product hosted internally or externally?
Mark Grebey has been in IT since 1999 working about 15 years for two large banks creating corporate banking products. In 2013, Grebey moved to Vitamix, where he manages global web and e-commerce operations. This includes responsibility for the people, process and technology associated with running the global web platform, and works closely with Marketing and Direct Sales business units to drive web strategy.
